Bye Bye Coffee: Non-caffeinated Ways To Start Off Your Day

No coffee, please.

Yup. You read it correctly – no coffee needed! “But Chels, I am so not a morning person” Look sista, I get it. There are mornings where the pure thought of a vanilla latte hitting my lips is enough to get my two feet on the floor but let’s face it, a giant cup of joe can lead to a mid-day crash, anxiety, a faster heart rate plus potentially a headache and ain’t nobody got time for that. Now before you think I’ve lost my mind, read the below tips and give them a try!

6 non-caffeinated ways to help you wake up:

1.  Give Your Eyes A Break
More than likely you spend a jaw dropping amount of time out of your day staring at a screen – computer or phone – sometimes both. Your homework tonight is to stare yourself in the mirror and say “no technology an hour before bed” repeat until necessary. Yes, I’m insinuating that there are other ways to wind down before closing your eyes other than stalking your friends cousins step sister. Try reading a book, journaling, meditating or treating yourself to a bath. A good nights sleep leads to a great morning so put your phone down and get some shut eye.

2. Let It Shine
Allowing natural light into your room is an indicator to your body that it’s time to rise and shine. If you’re thinking no amount of light will equivocate to a cup of coffee you have a point but it’s the little things that will start to make a big difference in your morning routine anddddd any little thing helps, right? Leaving a slight opening in your blinds and or curtains may be the perfect solution to help you get ready for the day!

3. Rise And Grind
You slept like a baby and woke up to the blissful morning light, now what? Well, TBH I don’t think many of you will like this but I’m going to say it anyway…. WORKOUT TIME. It’s a proven fact that exercise releases endorphins that will make you feel ready to conquer the day ahead. So instead of wasting time standing in the Starbucks line to order your fancy Venti drink, lace up your tennis shoes and get your body moving.

4Walk It Out
If you would rather have a cavity filled than workout in the mornings I’ve got another option for you. Grab a water bottle and go for a quick walk around the block. Soaking in fresh air before you are cooped up in an office all day will work wonders for your soul plus getting a dose of that morning air will reduce both your levels of stress and fatigue – sounds like a win win to me!

5. Fill Up The Tank
Breakfast: the most important meal of the day! Contrary to popular belief, coffee does not actually count as a meal so let’s take that notion off the table. Indulging in a well balanced meal with give you all the natural energy you need to prepare you for the day. If having breakfast without coffee is a sin in your world then try having a cup of tea!

6. DJ Play That Track
I don’t know about you but girrrllll, a good jam session to start off the day is just what the doctor ordered! Whatever your mood, whatever your taste – turn up the volume and get jazzed for the day ahead ((SO LAME I KNOW, I HAD TO))

Good morning sunshine,
Chels
