10 Habits To Break Up With
Break up. The words alone have the power to send shivers down your spine and make you feel like someone just punched you in the stomach. For the purpose of this post, the term break up is going to shine in a positive light. Today we are going to say goodbye to those ugly habits that have been weighing on your shoulders for far too long. It’s the little changes in life that make a difference in the bigger picture. So, who's ready to go through a break up?
10 Habits To Break Up With For A Happier Life:
1. Forgetting To Pay Your Rent On Time
This happens at the same time every month, NO surprise here! Set a reminder on your phone or better yet if “auto pay” is an option set that sh!t up so you don’t have to think twice about it. Accumulating late fees or having your landlord breathe down your neck isn’t worth it.
2. Putting Off Laundry
I get it, doing laundry is borderline worse than dishing out money for rent but guess what? It’s gotta be done. Get into a routine of doing laundry on a weekly basis so you don’t put yourself in a bind with no clean clothes to wear. While you’re sitting on the couch catching up on your favorite show pop in a load or two. You’ll feel so much better when starting off a new week with fresh out of the dryer clothes!
3. Taking A Rain Check
In a previous blog post I wrote about the truth behind being “too busy.” If you haven’t read it, read it. If you have read it let this serve as reminder to not use your busy schedule as an excuse to blow off plans with people who matter. Go out and have fun, your emails can wait.
4. Dolla Dolla Bills
I don’t know if you have heard of this awesome new invention but it’s called an ATM. Find one and use it. It’s unwritten rule of adulthood that you should always have cash on you.
5. Comparing Your Life To Others
Comparing your life to others is an incredibly easy game to play except you will never be a winner. Between job promotions, engagements, babies on the way and perfectly filter IG photos it’s almost a full time job to not let comparison take control but for your sanity it’s vital to find that balance. Read this post for tips on how to stop comparing yourself to others.
6. Just For The Sake Of It
Want to know what’s a complete waste of time? Being in a relationship just for the sake of it. Not only are you hurting yourself but you’re also hurting the other person and for what reason? Just so you aren’t the only single friend in our group? Screw that!
7. He Said She Said
You are far too mature for the he said she said gossip game. My advice to you is to keep your lips zipped. At this point in life you should have other important matters to focus instead of fueling off the latest gossip. Oh and remember, karma is a real life. Don’t get caught in her web!
Life is too short to do things that you don’t like so, stop doing them. If you would rather spend Sunday afternoon at a museum than at brunch- go get your museum on! There are enough fakers in this world, please don’t add to that population. Do what YOU love and your life will follow suit.
9. That Everyone Has To Like You
The cold hard truth is that not everyone is going to like you. The good news is, some people prefer a cup of whiskey over tea. Stay true to yourself and those who admire you for that will follow suite.
The struggle is real, I know, but taking the time to focus on yourself instead of feeling the need to go out to the bar every night is all a part of growing up. Light a candle, pour yourself a glass of wine, turn on a movie and curl up as you let out a sigh of relief.
